Hi all,
I've been a lurker here for a couple of months as I've recently purchased a 92 Hilux Dual Cab and I'm slowly bringing it up to scratch to tackle some of the more serious tracks that I can find.
My truck is a 2.4 petrol with solid front axle and springs all around. I'm running 32" tyres at the moment too.
What I would like is some advice on replacing the shocks on my truck though.
I have four worn shocks, worn rear springs, but new front springs (had some steering and minor suspension work done). Since I mainly go driving in the mud and/or rocky tracks (based in Tasmania) what should I be looking for to get a reasonable ride with decent travel?
The shocks are my main problem. They're borderline dangerous at the moment. Are bigger bore better, or are they more for competition?
I've also read about parabolic springs. I have plenty of weight at the front of the truck (bullbar, winch) so I think they would work there, but what do people recommend for the rear (which rarely carries any load).
Sorry for the massive post and all the questions. Any info would be greatly appreciated though so thanks in advance
Cheers,
Mark
