hilux and auto

Post by AcTioN13 »

g'day ladies and gents, was trying to find info and have been searching net to try and find out, but is there an auto that would bolt in, in place of a 5spd manual in a rn105 hilux with the 22r? as wanting to go auto but wanting to modify driveline very little if at all.

regards

You may have to search what Toyota sedan comes with a 22R and auto. Perhaps a Cressida, Hiace or Corolla or some strange thing that was never available in Australia.

A340H autos came in the 4runner with a 22Re motor so you may want to look at that it is the auto with intergrated Tcase.

There you go!

Question answered, but 2 more questions - was the 22RE an Aussie option and was that auto requiring shift signals from an ECU?

No, our 4Runners only came in auto's with the 4Y-E and V6.

You could use the 4Y-E as the bell should also fit a 22R and it has a separate trans ecu etc but take my advice. FORGET IT :D It requires a host of sensors and wiring that will drive you nuts if you don't understand how they work and it is not just a simple bolt in.

Using a Surf auto with a 4Y-E bellhousing would be easier as they have a mechanical transfer unlike the 4Runners but again it will still require wiring of some sensors and an ecu etc.

Honestly, if you must have an auto trade up to one :D
