BMW X5 second battery installation?

Post by RRturboD »

I have a mate who would like to install a deep cycle battery. There appears to be space under the bonnet. I cant find anyone who makes a cradle etc. It was easy for my Range Rover as there was a space prepared by the manufacturer, and I was not the first to do it!.

Anyone here put another battery in an X5?

So where do you store the spare KY in a X5?

Consider running a small odyssey crammed in somewhere at whatever angle as the main, and use the factory spot for the Aux batt.

A 620 AGM will run the X5. Starts my 1HZ no worries.

sadly I would highly doubt it... Most lawyers dont need it.

Another thing, which may sound silly, mate is BMW Master Tech, he says sneezing near these things, adding and changing things causes computer issues, so just be careful. Thats not just X5's, but most BM's now... he doesnt really have a good word to say about any of em.

Speak to Drivesafe. He makes the units that are suitable for the Rovers and they new ones of those are fussy as.

If you were down this way i'd help you out.
A GEL battery is the go. You can lay them down and fit them in places you wouldn't imagine.
I haven't found a car yet that we haven't been able to dual battery.

What do you need a second battery for an X5 for?

Are you going to take it OFFROAD? :?
2000 SR-5 turbo diesel, dual airlockers, bit of a lift, some 15x8 sunnies, 32" bighorns, a few spotties, and a wireless, and a kiddie seat in the back.
