calmini 5'' sierra lift
I was looking at that calmini 5" lift but what i cant justify is how you can buy them in the us for 750 us dollars but they cost $1780 here in perth where the australian distributor is ??!!?? Considering the dollar is pretty good at the moment. And when i rang up he was a grumpy
Seriously guys all of you have different opinions as far as what setup to go for, so what i want to know is what is legal??? Dont get me wrong i have a 1.6efi in mine which aint legal but it doesnt attract as much attention as a spoa would. So which would be the " Most legal " to go for
1. Calmini 5" lift
2. Spoa
3. 2" lift springs and a 50mm body lift
Thoughts would be great

Marc, based upon my understanding of Victorian laws, the 2" lift springs and 50mm body lift is the most legal along with the calmini lift - but i reckon the calmini lift doesn't appear to be very good
In vic we are allowed to have body lifts - and don't need to get them engineered so long as they are done "properly".
And with the spring lift - so long as you don't increase the distance from the bump stop to the axel by more than 1/3 of what it is in stock suspension setups - you don't need to get it checked either... Note: i've never actually measure this so i don't know what it should be
Hope that helps.

Does anyone know the legalities of lift kits, SPOA, etc in SA?
I've been searching high and low in OL's but can't find much on the topic (regarding SA).
I'm mostly considering Overkills coil conversion for my '91 Sierra above anything else (even though it'll be a trip to NSW) but I was wondering whether to consult anyone at TransportSA or an engineer or whoever to see what's legal here (can't see why not, but just in case)
I don't want to hassle Sam with questions of conversions etc until I know more about whats ok to mod on a zook in SA!
Anyone got any ideas, suggestions or contacts ?

How long have you had the kit on and are the springs holding up OK ?
The reason I ask is my mate has had his R/R spring over kit on for just over a year and the springs are now totally farked and sagging some thing chronic.
He rang RR after they never responded to any of his emails and explained how piss poor the spring lasted and basically was told "too bad cause we're not going to do any thing about it for ya"
I was going to buy R/R's 2 low mod but now wouldn't even spend 1 cent with them after hearing their reply to his problem.

A complete change from leaf to coil will require engineering in any state Go see an engineer

So my next Q is if anyone knows of a reputable engineer in SA that passes mod's for 4B's? Or should I call Suziworx in SA? ( I've just found they have a outlet here in Adelaide!)
Thanks guys
I wish you all the best on this Surf Chick Coils rawk make sure you post lots of pics of it all
Mick
Thanks Mick!
When it all gets off the ground I'll definitely post pics & share some info on my project. At the 'mo just doing a bit of groundwork first and then write up a plan of what can be done, how much money I want to spend, and of course what is legal in this state
Yeah coil conversion still has me over a Calmini bolt on kit etc, just have to see how much is involved in transporting my zook to Overkill's...!!
This thread has been good reading
I know mine will be a while away but I want it done dammit!!

i went in a hightop zook with a $1700 calmini 5 inch lift, had, lifted springs shackle reversal, maybe some other bits and pieces. and then he was next to another zook that had done a SPOA, and the SPOA zook flexed better. The Calmini zook said he was getting 2 foot of wheel travel sniff sniff, anyone smell that?
