Hi guys, I'm wondering if anybody here has had any personal experience in comparing the two lights, in light throw and distance. And I don't mean the narva bull light or the hella rig 220, I mean the big mother 250.

Cheers guys

Lightforce 240s VS Hella Bull 250
Moderator: -Scott-
Best I've seen is a Hella Jumbo 320 with a kit --- a bloke who bought one of my 45w kits.
Would love the opportunity to compare the 250 with a Blitz/XGT with halogen and with metal halides.

Hi bushy, I was under the impression that the jumbo 320 looked like this:
Maybe there is also another variant but those lights look to me as being either hella rig 220s, hella bull 250's or narva taurus bull lamps.
They could well be bull 250s, in that case it would be good to see them up against some lightforce 240s to see the differences.

Could well be... The dude who chucked the kit in said that they were 320's. Personally they just look like a normal set of Bull Lights.
I chucked a 55w 5000k kit into some Narva Bull lights tonight...

Those narva bulls look like they do a great job, they look like they have heaps more light output than the IPF900s even considering the 10w and temp differences. Bushy, you've seen a lot of others in action, how do you think the narva bulls stood up?
LFONZ, I have installed a 55w 4300k HID kit into my ageing 15 yr old hella 2000's, I should have gone 3-3500k just my colour preference though, and I'm not overly sold in their output as I was hoping to see night turn into day as most have reported. Of course they are heaps brighter than before but I haven't as yet had a chance to put them up against another set of HIDs to see how they stack up.
Also Bushy, your other clip of "when HID ballasts go bad #2" :CLIP HERE is interesting, as I now see what my 4 year old daughter subjected my right hand to while I was re-routing and plugging the lamps back in to the ballasts at the same time she was playing around in the drivers seat and pulled back on the indicator stalk while having fun, lets just say that I hadn't jumped that far since athletics in high school.

Better than I had anticipated actually. For the dollars spent, well worth it.
Threw a 42w 6000k into my tri-lite bull lights maybe 12 months ago, took one pic, and pulled them out. Fairly useless. But these being 5000k being quite a bit higher in lux/lumens and candela output, I'd say that it is a nice and cheap option for those running bull lights. Keep them and put in a kit. They are indeed a spot though, so for those who like a lot of light out the sides, nearly need a spread cover. I guess that they exist for the standard sized bull light - have never seen them personally. Could always cut a LF spread cover down to make it fit.
A Blitz / XGT with the same kit will still easily out do the above though since the reflector is both more highly reflective and a larger diameter causes more light spread.
Have yet to put a 55 kit into the likes of any Hella's or IPF's - so I cant comment yet.
(still gotta fire up me 225w mother 5 bulbed blitz)

Bushy, I got hold of a set of old hella rig 220 bull lights and a set of hella 4000's all in spots, and tried them out, the hella rig 220's are very similar in performance as the hella 4000's.
Here's a clip of the test http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=_KtgigSvqUw
the lights were going on the wall up against my 65watt +50% high beams.
