Fitting 33"s
There is alot of mixed stuff on here about 33" tyres.
What i want to do is to put some 33"s on my suzy sierra,
I have bout a 2"spring lift, Bout a 2" shackle lift now, and i will probably do a 2"/3" body lift and adjust the stops later. I do alot of rock/mud all round terrain, also its abit of " I Have 33's " Bling Factor.
*The breakages of people have all been doing stupid stuff or driving normal? I have a rear welded locker also...
*Will it be reliable or will i have to carry a spare set of cv's with me everywhere?
*If you look at my sig, it will tell you what i have for them also.

I haven't broken anything withh 33's except the transfer mount but that was no fault of the tyres... I got hung up on a rock.

Be prepared to play with wheelbase, you'll need to get your wheels nice & centred in the wheel wells to stop scrubbing front of your rear wheel wells, and the back of your front wheel wells/firewall (along with some flattening of seams with hammers and some trimming) Also you'll be cutting off the outer sticky-out sections of the front cross member, and putting in some bump stop spacers...
what sort of 33's do you want to run?
Wide/narrow? lots or little offset? The wider the tyre, the easier its going to hit on the springs at full lock. The more offset you run, the bigger your scrub radius will be and you'll bite into the front & rear of your flares/guards more... There are a number of ways to combat this, different size tyres/offset, "narrow tracking" front springs (see want33's thread), cutting guards/lifting flares to clear a bigger scrub radius etc etc...
Because i went different length springs all round (RUF & MQ's in rear) i could pretty much set my shackle angle how I wanted it, which was sharp, for more droop/less uptravel into the guards. I ended up going with extended "missing link" style drop shackles because i didnt want to cut & weld the spring mounts & chassis to fit the longer springs with my desired shackle angle.
Haven't broken anything but I havent pushed it yet though...

I would be a little worried about breaking axles etc in the rear on the road with a welded diff, perhaps a swap to a lockrite or similar would be on the cards. But as mentioned it all depends on the exact tyre you run. Simex make a 32 X 9.5 X 15" pede that measures 33 inches diameter so will look the part and being 9.5" wide you'll have less drama with hitting spring packs etc than a 10.5" or wider. Have a look here for some wheels that will help also

They have a small negative offset that should be fine with 9.5" wide tyres, I plan on using them for 10.5" wide 32" pedes but I expect there to be some drama's which I'll asses when it comes to that.

I have some offset wheels off an f100, 2 are original offset f100, cos the triangles have rounded edges, and 2 are aftermarket and have a dish on them bout 20mm more than the f100 rims probably.

I am thinking of goin ruff and redrilling the rear perches so the diff can reverse back alittle or find some longer rear springs. Gotta watch the tank but with the diff centre. Driveshaft spacers also. And adjustments to shock mounts

My rear diff is a full 2" back, and the brake line bracket bolt on the face of the pumpkin has just rubbed/dinted the fuel tank (ie won't dint it any further). My shocks are on too sharp an angle (ie the upper cover rubs on the lower body) but some shocks that dont have this mud cover thing should be ok. Alternitavely you could weld new lower mounts to the top of the diff...
You sound like youve put enough thought into it/had a good look at the car. Just buy the tyres and MAKE them fit. If theres a will, theres a way. Just depends how much work your willing to go to.

I bought my tyres from a picture on Ebay. They were advertised as 33X10.5 and even stated overall diameter at 832mm (32.7").
They actually measure 800mm (31.4") Next set will be Silverstones too but 35's.
I got caught out but there's nothing 'pointless' about them.

I keep up with and sometimes outdrive cruisers and patrols with 33's and 34's.

I'm happy with them too
but next time I'll be getting 34 skinny swampers or bf goodrich - Mud-Terrain™ T/A KM2 LT285/70R17/D ... rims would have to be made most likly
