Hi all, just thought i'd post a pic of my TD42 Safari turbo/intercooled GQ for those interested! It has 12mm plunger in pump, mod injectors, slightly dropped compression, 18lbs boost. Pump has a fair bit of room to move upwards of this figure, but i'm not sure about the turbo. It currently runs 550 degrees celcius post turbo.
what year model is the motor and whats it like on fuel? lol
cheers, andrew
97 GQ patrol coilcab. TD42, safari turbo kit with fiddled turbo, D-GAS kit. dyno results to come...
4inch lift, king springs, efs and procomp shocks
315/70R16 cooper ST's
found fuel economy...
did you fit the oil cooled ceramic pistons yourself?
my understanding was the 97 model didnt have these?
probably not bad economy, my standard non turbo ute at under 2.1 tonne gets 11/100km at 105, it gets substantially worse at 110 and beyond.

Yeah built the engine myself using an engines Australia TD42T kit. Shaved each piston crown in a lathe between 2 and 7 thou to give all 6 a zero deck height when installed in the block and then sent them off to have the crowns ceramic coated. Then balanced each one with a die grinder.
West end is in wetherill park, Sydney. They are very helpful and have done many Nissan 6's

I dont know what i am missing here, but when my GU ute was dynoed it made 750 lbs (<foot pounds??) torque...and with a conversion that equals over 1000nm does it not? or am i doing something wrong?

I would think something is wrong with your calculator, or the dyno dude was telling you what you wanted to hear.. apparently there are ways of manipulating dyno reads while the car is on the dyno.
micka1 wrote:Just interested in how much the engines Australia TD42T rebuild kit cost ?
Woops rebuild was $5k in parts, did most work himself.
but when you say rebuild kit, there are different levels, if you want TOTAL rebuild or not. his donk had 560,000klms on it.
pounds torque, foot pounds and newton metres are 3 different measurements.
and i cant find a bloody conversion.
when i got my ute dynod it made 500 pounds torque, and asked what that was in nm, he changed the graph to metric and its about 200nm.
