Timing Belt Cover

So here's a long shot...

Does anyone happen to know if the timing belt cover from the F75 is the same as the F85... One's petrol and one's diesel so I'm not holding my breath

Yeah managed to get out and take a quick look at the two between downpours today... Very different.

Um, I need the cover for the deisel. Apparently mine has a hole in it so that will cause issues for me in creek crossings and puddles.

Yet the mechanic decided to tell me about it AFTER he put it all back together

So he had to pull it all apart again to replace the seal now that he spoke to someone else at daihatsu... He showed me the whole and my god, its about the size of the entire pulley!

So did you have a diesel cover?

And which cover is it? The plastic one, or the alloy one. If its the alloy one, then I have one spare here.

Um, the plastic one... what model has an alloy one, wouldn't they all have the same one if they have the same engine?

No, the earlier DL's had an alloy timing cover, and they are gear drive, no belts in there.

Yeah I'm pretty sure i came accross that thread a while ago.

Mine's not that bad, but if i go through deep water I will have problems.

The crank pulley has put a rather large hole in the cover. As well as one of the drive belts has worn away a little at it

How bad is the hole? Is a repair job possible to fix either permenantly, or temporarily till a replacement is sourced. Araldite, the real stuff, not the 5 minute wonder, can do a good job of plastic repairs. Just set up a bit of a mould to shape it.

not so much a crack or anything as simply as that... i think the drive belts were too tight so it pulled the crank pulley a little crooked...

There's a hole nearly as big as the pulley itself.
