Snorkals
yes but it will depend on how u do the install and what airbox u use.
i reused the vitara airbox in mine and then did snorkel to suit and also running on opposite side to a 1.3 one. as that is where the vit sits

Only if it's a vitara G16. Baleno, Jimny and M motors are MAP not MAF. There's also "late" and "Early" AFM - the early ones are massive and a real PITA to work with- they're about 4" in diameter.nicbeer wrote:efi air box has the air flow meter in there btw.scooby_74 wrote:You can buy an air hose from the throttle body on efi to go straight to the sj air filter box so theres no messy efi air boxes fitted looks good aswell.

ie passenger side? or drivers side. if u mean passenger side then yes mine is using the factory airhose and box and mounted up behind the headlight with a 3" snorkel coming out of it.scooby_74 wrote:if you were to run vitara efi (which i havent seen a real neat one yet) the air box needs to be on the left side of the vehicle, there is no snorkle kit for the left side unless you are making your own

The early ones are better though from a performance point of view.Gwagensteve wrote:

Here is mine PVC pipe cost about $40. works great goes stright into the airboxScrawnC wrote:I don't mean to bust in on this thread but has anyone got pics of DIY Sierra snorkels? There isn't too many pics left in the bible now. I'm wanting to do a 3" exhaust tube snorkel and I'm needing ideas for fixing to A pillar and joining to air box.
Sorry for busting in Reprise

Hey mate , 2 inch exhaust pipe with rubber bends from air cleaner company , 2-3 inch bell where scoop attachs , 2 inch exhaust pipe donut cut to right angle for bends , welded and linished flat , painted in 2-pack , Cheers Paul.

sweet pics... well done...
what about the hot/cold actuator switch?
did you guys remove it?
Does it make the car run worse if you remove it?
(i noticed there was a hose that feeds back into the air box)
i was going to remove it when i get my snorkel on, but i noticed alot of you guys left it on.

Thanks for the photos MART!! I like the rubber bend idea. I'm gonna use 3" exhaust and it will enter the body up the front of the guard rather than doing the dogleg thing back toward the battery then out. I just needed ideas for joining pipe to air box and also fixing to A pillar.
What is the extra rubber hose entering the air box? The one with the brass fitting?

The entry to the standard air filter is 2 inch , 50mm roughly , so a 3 inch snorkel won't be any better than a 2 inch snorkel , maybe you want it for looks , as it is only 2 inch entry hole , it won't flow any better. Also the TEE for winter running or hot air pickup has been removed as they don't seal water tight.
Scrawn c , the extra hose belongs to the injection and is a pickup for the ISC solenoid , Cheers Paul.

thanks.
I will remove the hot air/winter switch and see if it makes a difference.
My snorkel will be 65mm (2 1/2 inch) just coz the material i have - but will run a reducer to the 2 inch inlet from the airbox.
Cheers.
