Hilux ratio

Post by booflux »

To those that have blown a front diff in a 04 or therabouts 6 cyclinder Hilux can you confirm for me it was a 4.1 ratio. I have been told thats what they are and we are looking to change ratios to suit larger tyres so need to confirm.

Thanks in advance.

If the 6 is a 4.1 or lower the 4.88s wont work and seeing as its IFS scotties 4.88s wont help ;)

If its 4.1 we will be going 4.56 for the 33s I already have a rear here he can fit and we just need to confirm as I have a possible 4.56 front lined up ;)

Boof one guy here in Perth had a 04 petrol V6 his was a 4.1 talking to the guy who does my diffs said most he had seen were a 4.1 but there was a 3.9 in a 03 the axle code on the 4.1s are A04B, but most of the diesels have the 3.9/3.7 diffs so maybe they just thru them in for some reason i am not sure toyota logic.

Hope this has helped some.

Cheers Dave thats what I pretty much thought, I will check the axle code and see if it matches. Next thing is to see if my front bar will bolt up

Mate the code i gave had the 4.1s and was a LSD so that theory up above is as it says below on the link Not gospel.

Not sure why they don't correspond but the info i got was from a diff center all he does is diffs and he buys gears from me at times id trust his information 99% as he has been recording the different ratios and wether lsd etc with the trans axle codes.
