75 diffs same as 60

are 75s cruiser diffs the same as 60s diffs ,as in housings widths mounts centers all in the same spots ?? its just that ive found a real cheap set and was going to modify them for a soa so i dont have to have my truck off the road for to long .

also my 60 has factory lockers will these centers fit in a 75 housing??

i can't help you out with the diff housings but i can tell you the 60 diff center will fit into a 75 housing as i have just put a air locker in the front of my 60 winch was out of a 75

Correct. Centers/hubs etc are identical (talking FJ/HJ75, not FZ/HZJ75s) but the 60 housing is wider 99% sure the perches are further apart too. SPOA 60 on 75 diffs would look rediculous

Correct, the perches are further apart.
Not sure how the 60 factory locker set up is, but you may have to modify the housing where the centre bolts in.

75 series diffs are narrower, the perches are in different spots. A mate just fitted a 60 series housing into his 75 to gain some more width

as dogbreath said, the diff centre, hubs etc are the same hj/fj60 to hj/fj75
hzj/fzj are different

a 60 series diff assembly is 70mm wider than a 70 series unit. I've just got myself a 60 diff to chuck under my middy, to stop the tyres rubbing on the damn inner guards!

thanks guys ,ive been reading on ih8mud that i might not even need to cut and rotate the housing for a spring over ,something about the 62 series pinion being rotated up more than a 60 series and having the auto means the t-shaft is aparently longer so the uni angle wont be so bad ,has any one heard of this before ,if this is right than i should be able to just take the diffs out and put them under the springs without cuting or welding anything .

maybe just use some castor wedges on the front(put them in backwards )to rotate the pinion up just a little bit but not enough to ruin the castor angle , and i was thinking the same for the rear just to rotate the pinion up a little bit .

I fitted 60 diffs under my middy a few years ago the rear wasn't an issue the front was more of a hassle as the middy is still undersprung,i had to cut into the diff casing slightly and fab up a custom spring mount so the mount next to the diff centre sat in the correct position for the chassis width. Apart from using caster wedges its been heaps better off road and no more scrubbing. And thats with 35's, 2"springs and 2" bodylift with the front diff forward 40 mm with a spring pack reversal.

i took my bj40 axles into a wrecker looking for better ones (i always take the old bits in for a full compare, as i have been sold the wrong shit so many times)

anyways i walked out with a set of axles with hj75 written on them, and they fit perfectly, so i can tell you they are the same, i sized up 60 series axles, and 70mm bigger sounds about right
