Navara D40 fuel effiency

Post by Al »

Hi,
I have a D 40 2.5 T/D Auto and I, like most other owners of this type of vehicle, am getting poor fuel consumption. 15 l/100 - town 12.5 - h/way and 20 to 25 l/100 when towing (gently)
I have noticed the VNT turbo controller bobbing up & down at about 3 cycles / second, this to me is UNSTABLE.
The ECM is located in the HOT engine bay and reaches temperatures in excess of 60*C. (As most operations are controlled through the ECM, this may explain some of the problems Nissan is having).
Nissan aren't offering any help and only give "customer relations self survival" type answers.
With their head continually in the sand (and arse in the air) like that it's a wonder someone hasn't come along and done something indecent to them
( but then maybe they have & maybe nissan like it :?:)
Can anybody help with the technical problems

This seems to be very high for a diesel I have a D40 V6 petrol runs 15ltrs/100 Had a nissan t/d 3ltr patrol went bang at 93,000 km serviced every 5,000km still shit it's self. Could not trust Nissan Diesels again thats why I bought a V6 petrol. Thought the 2.5 t/d was just to small for the job and longitivity. Hope you can get results from Nissan to retify the problem you are having at the moment.

Have a great day.
