Can I get some ideas on this one
I need to put power steer in the sierra. I can get a vitara complete set up for $500, but I have read on the rocky road site that it is the weakest power steer available. They recomend using a Toyota box.
I would be able to fit the Vitara box no problem, but I am concerned that it might not be up to the job, or maybe the pump might be the problem.
I will be running 35's so it needs to be able to turn them easily.
I have done a search in the forum, but I haven't been able to find alot on the subject.
Can anyone who has either done the conversion, or has it on theirs please give me some advice.

The steering box is mounted right on the front of chassis rail on the outside.tehzook is mainly used for comps but i also drive on social drives as well.
I will try and get some pics as soon as possible for ya,but it pretty straight forward.
you have to cut off the round tube from the outsides of the chassis and i used the top hole only that is allready there and then marked and drilled the other two rear holes, you could muck around and redrill the the front bottom hole by replating the chassis but it is not that important.

I can supply a kit that will mount the vitara steering box to the chassis. Kit comes with adapter plate, steering shaft, pitman arm and all necessary nuts and bolts. Cost is $250. Its completely bolt on, no welding required at all. Both I and Damo run this kit at the moment and have no problems with it. It allows the wheel to be turned very easily with one hand even with Damo running 32" mongrels.
For pictures or for anyone else interested you can e-mail me at a_lowry@optusnet.com.au
