TD42 gq or D40 navara

Post by Frankenyota »

What would you have for a touring / towing vehicle?
Looking at these 2 vehicles for doing longer trips.
l like the td42 for the fact its basic and proven. Not so sure on the 2.5 td in the D40. It is nice to drive but is very low in height and not as roomy.

Cheers

If you are talking about towing and carrying some weight, the answer is obvious. You want a Patrol with a TD4.2T.

While the D40 is very nice to drive especially around town, the Patrol is a far more robust and proven vehicle, which is a nice thing to know when your tackling the rough stuff.

IMWO, 2 totally opposite vehicles...

What else do you intend to do with the truck, I know your doing the big lap, but if you intend to do any harder playing when you get back, then there is only 1.

Is resale a consideration, or this is long term?

The Navara would be better daily driver, you have more chance of finding someone passing you in a GQ with spares if needed though...

2.5 is a smaller donk, *MAY* be more economical if that comes into the equasion, but I would think it would work harder to do the same as the GQ.

TONS more used accessories everywhere for GQ's.... Probably spare parts in remote locations than the D40.

Does the D40 have computers? another thing to consider if it goes wrong in middle of nowhere.

for me, I'd go the GQ, I just dont agree with small engines for hard work.

YMMV
