Saw it for the first time on the weekend. If i ever get a GQ it'll be one of the first things i'll do!
I was very impressed! Wasn't too much from wat the dude was saying and he can't see why it's not more popluar!

Gooday, i have a 4.2 turbo wagon on Diesel/ gas , fitted last year,i am cheezed off i did not do it a long time ago. Without a doubt, more power, quieter motor noise, better economy, cleaner oil. No complaints at all.

i am a diesel gas australia fitter. we have had grate results with the 4.2 n/a and the turbos. actually if its a diesel we have had grate results. there are no bad points only good. you get more power more torque better econnomy quieter running engine less oil changes cleaner engine oil longer life of the engine and cleaner emissions. it costs $4300 on a gq if you dont have a second diesel tank if it does you would be looking at $4500 which includes moding the exhaust around th tank. i have it on my 2.8 GQ at its the best thing i have done. if you want any more info you can phone 07 3375 6377
strangely enough, a guy on another forum was looking into this for a while, got all his facts and figures straight, cost was $2500. he thought about it and the next week the government introduced a $2000 rebate!!!! he thought sweet, the govt pays $2000 and im only out $500. rang up to book it in,(remember, only 1 week since he was quoted $2500) and he is now told $4500. sounds strange that the parts/labour increased over night by $2000 JUST when the rebate came in..........

mate i wouldnt say thats too funny, at the time the rebate first came out, i was driving a 1974 LWB F100 with a worked 351, i was slowly going broke due to fuel bills lol, but anyways i had been enquiring about getting it changed to gas and was i had got 3 qoutes ranging from about $2400 - $3000
2 weeks later the rebate came through, i went in to book it in and all 3 shops had now added $1000 or more onto the price..

Same thing happened to cause the housing boom. Government gave a first home owners grant and the prices skyrocketed. People thought, if the government are saving someone $x then I can ask $x more so the persone doesn't actually spend more but I get more.

A dyno sheet showed and improvement from stock 82-83HP to around 100HP with the gas on. The turbo diesel dyno's were just bloody rediculous, a actually had trouble working it out cause the "before" and "after" curves were almost on the next page.
The Diesel Gas systems are controlled by a microprocessor, and the demo car at expo was a N/A 4.2 diesel Cruiser trayback. The bloke said he's got three different injection maps programmed into the microprocessor, and that the gas was injected at 7psi(not too sure how big boost systems are setup though...). Looked like a pretty simple, neat setup. The multiple gas injection mapping was pretty impressive too!!

wouldn't supries me, since LPG is by product of producing petrol, for years they were just burning it off as they had no major use for it.coxy321 wrote:True. mate they have been doin this on trucks in NZ for about 20 years and have proven motors last longer run cleaner use less fuel. now for the but and it is a big but i am in touch with people in gov dep and know for a fact that the gov are going to bring in tax that will bring lpg prices up near the price of petrol by 2010 nice ha . u would think that they would wont to promote the only fuel that makes both diesel and petrol motors run clean that we have but all they wont is moneybogged
