a Grand vitara ( 98 - 04 ) with a 3inch lift and 245,75,16s be able to follow anywhere a sierra with a 3 inch lift and simler size tyres?
any thoughts??

If it's not your car then for sure. But if you're worried about panel damage that's another question...
Need more info. What kind of terrain? GV will smash the Sierra on sand because of better power, Sierra will leave the GV for dead on the rocks because of better front axle articulation and lighter weight.

My GV had 2.5" Calmini and 1" Body Lift I run 255/70R16 and went anyhere a Sierra with lifted springs and 31" went. It was even a bit better in some spots mainly in hill climbs. But If the Sierra has a SPOA it will have better clearance for rocks and big ruts.
As an allrounder they are good but a Sierra will always be better in a hardcore situation.
If you put lockers in it the flex in the front wont matter.

A sierra will murder the GV offroad only because you don't have to be as careful.
Yes, the GV will have more traction and be more stable, but it has lower clearance, and is much more vulnerable.

I understand, but we do trips all the time with these cars on them. A sierra is more capable than a GV. Less weight, more clearance, less vulnerable, more durable.
Yes, a GV climbs better, but if the track is rutted/tight/has banks etc a sierra is a better bet.
