Post by boy-c »

i have been told that you need to go through the pit to get a approval for a body lift or spring lift??? but i was told by the guy doing my road worthy that they don't put it through the pits? i thought that a road worthy is all they need? if it is within legal limits? that is i have an fj73 with 2inch body and 2 inch spring.......

My experience is you can do a 2" sus lift no problems.
Adding a 2" BL you will need to get this approved by Qld. Transport to be legal and yes it does go over the pits.

If your rig is roadworthy, you will have no problems, I didn't.

I'm with Dougster. I put the bodylift in my Paj when I was in Qld. Rang Qld Transport, they sent me a form. Filled in the details, they sent me a permit. Did the body lift, put it over the pits, no problems.

Never talked to them about my suspension lift, and my tyres were just plain illegal. :)

I did the same as Scott when I had my Rodeo.
I made sure my ute was roadworthy before I took it in but still was worried when they looked it over. Considering the reaming the guy before me got (35in tyres on a Wrangler).

One thing I noticed were all the 4wds in the staff car park. Nearly every vehicle was a 4wd. One of the guys who checked my car wanted to know all about mine. I was concerned at first but he said he had a Rodeo too and just wanted some ideas.

Same experience here, they don't much at the lift itself though. You do a brake test on the rollers front, rear and hand brake, then they put you on the wobble plates and check your suspension and steering, more to make sure everything is tight and not worn out.
