Installing a 5,29 diff centre
hey all
it was my lucky day today i picked up a brand new 5,29 diff for a 2,8td for free of my gfs dad.
But now the problem is he was telling me how to install it but he made it sound way hard lmao! so i was wondering if someone can give me a run down on how to do this.
Thanks

Is this the Paj in your sig line ?
You must have the same ratio front & rear, or else when you're in 4WD they will turn at different speeds.
Anyway, to change the rear diff centre.
Jack up the rear, undo the tail shaft, drain the diff oil. There are four bolts on the end of the axle housing that hold the hub on, Undo these and pull on the wheel to slide the axle out. You may need to undo the bolts holding the brake cable to the control arms. Slide both axles out as far as you can (you should be able to tell when it's not in the diff anymore). Undo all the bolts around the diff centre and lift it out.
Do the reverse to install the new one

what end are you planing on putting this into. it wont fit in the front. do you have leafs or coils in the rear of it? if its coils i think it will fit in the rear but if its leafs you wont be able to fit it.
either way, dont fit it till you find one to match for the front. i have one here but im in NZ.

i got thse numbers tho if they make sence to you of the diff. B00294 on the wheel and on the case 28 go2 is what they looked like does this help you tell me what ratio these are thx

Your new diff, rotate the pinion and count how many turns you do until the axle (at the end) does a complete turn. Roughly 5 and a quarter is 5.29 and so on.

Okay mate, I downloaded a spell cheek program just for You:P
I did what you said turned out to be like a 4.85 diff or something don't matter.
I'v decided after talk to a few mechanics with auto gear box and being a v6 it will have plenty of power and I got my lift yesterday and with the 33" tires it will have no problem at all.
Thanks for all you help.
