well we had another 30mm yesterday/last night/this morning. so still nothing much really!

alben went for a drive out in the park yesterday and said that the tracks and camping areas are still fine. water crossings still over, but can still get a 2wd through easy as.

so tell them nothing to worry about. light little drizzly stuff is all we gunna get.

I hear that there are some big names and this weekend event. Al Mac from procomp & Kim Bolton from TJM, Battle of the brands. Sounds like a good showdown this weekend It's the who's who of winch challenge and a few outback boy's thrown in. Good Luck on the tracks fella's..

The weather sure made it interesting.

Saturdays stages were excellent! great for spectators and all close proximity to each other. some technical sections especially for the last 10 cars on each stage as the place turned in to a skating ring.

2 Stages today....one with a winch pull of around 50m was sure to test some of the guys....plenty of water around also made things difficult.

Kym Bolton unfortunately had auto troubles on friday night saw him retire before saturdays stages (would have liked to see how he went). Spoony did a barrel roll at the end of the GPS stage. one tree on one stage had a head on with SEVERAL cars including laurie sternbeck. the two pro comp jeeps were quick and nimble on most stages.

look forward to seeing pictures and results from the weekend. was excellent to have a big field (38 i think) and lots of different makes and models.

cheers

I was there on Friday night and Saturday.

The rain really made the tracks change on Saturday from what i saw. It was great to see so many entrants i heard 34 starters. Heaps of new cars from when i last raced a year ago.

Those procomp jeeps sure showed how well you can do with a good approach angle on one stage and Al Mac showed the Qlders how to drive mud!! Bob and Damo were putting on a great show and that motor sounded sweet (good work On Offroad Mechanical). So many things happen can't write it all at once...

Keen so see the final outcome where's the results??

G'Day Guys, got back late last night. Bloody top weekend with some great action. We had 39 cars registered for the event and unfortunately about 5 got knocked out on Friday night, including Kym Bolton with gearbox issues.

Sat was rain for most of the day (unusual for cruiser park but was great to see the creeks running again). Sunday morning had 2 quick stages with DNF times of only 13 minutes and this made all the difference at the top.

Early favourites, such as Bob Dunsmore and Spoony both had problems over the weekend and finished 6 and 10, I think.

Overall winner was Lawrie Sternbeck, followed by Al Mac in the Procomp Jeep only 10 points behind.

Well done to everyone, it was a fantastic weekend.

See you all in Rocky for round 2.

Okay, it was Rob Marshall in 6th and Bob and Spoony in 8 and 10, thanks for clearin' that up Dave.

What a top time and I would like to thank all the competitors on the way they conducted themselves over the weekend.
This was a credit to all of you as not a harsh word was spoken and we had some new officials helping out this weekend as well, and each of you worked in with us as best you could in the heat of competition.

Congratulations to all the place getters and as I said before, I look forward to seeing all of you in Rocky.

Wow what an awesome weekend,
A big thanks to all the other competitors and especially all the officials without whom we wouldn't have an event at all. Great work guy's. And of course a big thank's to Dave Metcalfe for organising the event, cheer's mate.

The tracks certainly turned to crap on sat after a few shower's and made it very interesting indeed.
Luckily for all sunday saw almost the end of the rain and the 2 track's dried out considerably which was really good for us as we were the 2nd last car to run after a few steering issues ended our run on sat after only three stage's, after a really long wait on sunday morn we had both sunday stages nailed in about 20 mins which were both awesome, we even managed to drive the big nasty hill on stage 9 which would have to be the highlight of the weekend for us.

It was great to see alot of interstate competitors and we hope to see you all at rd2 in Rocky and then again at rd3 in Tammworth, they will be sure to be as good as this weekend if not better!
It would also be great to see a few more entry level car's get out there and have a go.
See you all at the next event, I can't wait.

Yes I am very pleased how everyone conducted themselves. Big thanks to all the competitors, you really made my job eaiser by following directions which inturn made the weekend run very smoothly.

The DNF times on some stages were tight, that was the intention, after all there are rules to cover the chance that no one completes the SS in time and everyone would still score. This rule has never been used, yet. Round 2 will see a further safety factor put inplace to make sure that we have 25% of the field achieve the DNF time, if set time is deemed to be to short due to change in weather or track condition.

Images of event will be up mid next week if not earlier. – www.desertrosephotography.com.au

DVDs available as of Friday – contains 600 images of whole event suitable to print 5”x7” - $30 per DVD plus $10 postage. Just email or call to order.

Renee – 041779 4527

We can email order form of other products available as well.

Email: info@desertrosephotography.com.au

Full SS results will be available this week.

Cheers

I have no footage but i can tell you that it is one quick and strong winch.
I beleive billy got the adaptor from Flaming Fabrication's and the rest......well those rocky boy's certainly know how to fabricate bits that work, they won't give away their secrets but if you get in touch with Russell Mason at ARB CQ (rocky ) i am sure that he will be able to sort one out for you.
I reckon it would have to be one of the fastest electric winches i have ever seen.

Cheer's Smitty, hopefully we will see a few more car's entered in the Extreme Class in rocky.
We should do better overall in rocky as we have a few mod's taking place, but will need to be careful as not to encraoch on the rules of the Extreme Class. But i can assure you we will not be breaking another steering arm???

Yes, it was one of our adapters. Spoke to Billy today and they were extremely happy with the results ( as I am also ). Those guys are doing some fantastic development work with the low mounts. Would like to see some footage aswell.

Thanks guys,
had a ball on the weekend except for the cv blues, some how we ended up with the wrong ones for spares and the outside assistance killed us plus a couple of silly mistakes. Dana 60 go`s in before rocky and the winch will be even better! No out side work will be done until we have the things worked out properly.
