gearbox may not last very well if its been thrashed with a turbo as well. mine and a mates, both 98 3.0d non-turbo blew boxes at 120,000 and 105,000km respectivley. 5th gear is weak. it is possible to swap in the r151 (or 150??) box from a surf or td lux in but its a bit of work but def stronger.

Don't overboost it or yes it will die, mine ran 12psi and is currently being rebuilt  $7000 later  not just a plain rebuild though ;)

Don't don't tow in 5th gear or that will die too.

Does it have the fuel aneroid :?: This keeps the fuel mixture correct through the rev/boost range.
Kind Regards,
Brad
