Id just like to say that reduction gears for your zook(sierra) will be the best thing you will do.
I have just recently installed the Trail Gear 6.5:1 gearset, running 31" Mickey Thompson MTZ and they are awesome, i am reduced to stock ratio's and low range is really good.
The main reason i am posting is because of the price i got them for. I only paid $600 AUD direct from lowrange off road U.S. (based on the current dollar value). These gears are reasonably easy to install at home with some mechanical knowledge. There are detailed instructions that are available and they have a lifetime warranty. http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/samtcase.htm
I just thought i would share my experience with buying reduction gears. Hope the info is useful. . .Tom

How do ya find the low range 6.5 ratio for 31's? Is it low-ish (not much speed for bumping up rocks if required) or perfect, and what kind of terrain do you run them on?
I'm in the sticky situation of having fairly new 235/75R15's that I don't want to replace for a bit, but will definately go 31s when I do. So I'm not sure if the 6.5s will be too short while I'm on 28's, or if the 4.9s will be too tall once I'm on 31's My usual terrain is muddy trails, creek crossings etc, not full on rock.
I get the feeling from previous searches <--magic word that 4.9s are the go but would love confirmation.....

I recently smashed my brand new S4 rockhopper gears, and housing when the gears were only 1000k old, due to no bracing/strengthening around the housing. I just got a COMPLETE transfer with 6.5's, ready to bolt in from low range off road, inc delivery (7 days), 1 year warranty on the housing, and lifetime warranty on the gears for around $1340. He is GREAT to deal with
F&R ARB air lockers, lux diffs, 4 link coil rear, drop shackles, inboarded ranchos, stage 4 reduction gears, 35" silverstones, 9500 winch, RUF, 1.6 EFI, swimming goggles
I just got the Transfer case rebuild kit, the guys got it too me in Seven days, now before you tut, Im in the N.T and most things to get up here take that anyway from Melbourne or Sydney. But they chucked in some stickers and were really quick and easy to deal with so I can vouch for them to for good customer service
And yes Im running reduction gears in mine they are great fun

all depends on the high range ratio reduction on the new gearset...
TT 6.4s run 17% high range reduction
TG 6.5s run 20% high range reduction
TT 4.9s run 16% high range reduction (I had these with 3.7s on a small 31 and found them to be geared a little lower than stock, would be perfect on 32s; running 34s now with 4.57 diff gears and gearing is close to stock in high range, can cruise at 100km/h with 34s!)

Cheers mate, just so you guys know, we've just done a big order and will now be holding a fair bit of stock here, including these gears. It will take a couple of months for it all to get here, but expect to be able to get these gears for around $540 AUD including shipping to anywhere in Ausdank wrote:

One of the biggest killers for us is the GST, being an Australian company we have to charge GST, whereas the guys in the US shippipng into Australia don't have to (unless the order is over $1000 then the customer has to pay before they get the stuff).
