Hi guys.
Looking to upgrade to a "family" car/wagon and the GU (98 onwards) so far is pretty much top of the list. Now ive driven a 2.8 TD, a 3.0 TD (Auto) and a 4.5L petrol. As per any normal person im looking for something with some decent fuel consumption and the ability to tow my boat with no issues (rooughly 1100kg total weight). I found the petrol one to be quite sluggish, the 2.8 torquey but ran out of revs real quick, and the 3.0 TD Auto I was quite impressed with. Only thing with the auto was it was quite violent in changing gears (2004 model, 180k on the clock).
I know the 4.2 TD is supposed to be the be all and end all but is it really that good? Is there any real issues with the 3.0 TD Auto?
I checked the bible which was a bit mixed, if anyone has some feedback would be great.
