hey has anyone put 6x9's in the tailgate of a zook. i was thinking bout doin it and have cut out a piece of 9 mm mdf and rounded the corners it fits good. just need some ideas bout mountin the speakers.

Cut holes in the MDF & screw the speakers in?

Seriously, that's all you need to do as long as you have the depth. The one thing I did want to mention is that if you are using MDF make sure you seal it properly because it does not like water at all. I would have used marine ply but whatever floats your boat...

Yep thats exactly what i did and also mounted an amp between the speakers. seems to work well and have had no problems with them except for having things rolling around in the back and hitting the speakers which aint good for em.

I have 2 x 8" subs in my hardtop tailgate. goes very well. 6x9's should be fine in there.

Mine is built up with a 40mm mdf frame.

yeah its no drama i just had to make up some 18mm spacers as it wasnt deep enough, ill probably get an amp and mount it in between. thanks anyway.

also th mdf is HMR high moisture resistance so water should not be a problem when i cover it in marine carpet. :D
the speakers will probably get stuffed before the mdf.

finished it and im happy with the result. wat do u guys think. probably should put the grill on it.

no seriously it looks pretty , nothing wrong with pretty ,
for instance my car inside and out looks pretty (bloody ugly)
if its worth doing do it intensly , better still do it with MADPASSION

yeah i also chucked out the vinal flooring and put down that same carpet it is pritty sweet
