Ford Cleveland Oil Capacity

Post by not stock »

I'm currently putting a Ford 351 cleveland into my Maverick, I have brought a Bronco reverse sump but it has no dipstick. I am going to make my own but I don't know how much oil the sump holds. Would somebody in the know be able to tell me how much oil to put in . Please state if it includes the filter or not.
cheers

Falcon 351C's take just a smidge under 5 litres including filter for an oil change.
The dipstick goes in the block so just buy a new one and check it as usual.
If you can't find one let me know. I'll sell you one of mine.

I'm using the reverse sump out of a Bronco the hump and the pickup are at the back, not at the front like a normal clevo sump. with a Bronco reverse sump the dipstick is supposed to screw in the side of the sump. I have rang five ford mechcanics and they all gave different answers.

OK then... try this.. http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-301 ... pstick.htm
and this.. http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-301 ... k_tube.htm
351M and 351C are almost exactly the same. A dew bits are different but the dipstick and tube will interchange.
Might be this tube if it has to SCREW in to sump not push in.

I thnk they might have the wrong pics up so it'd pay to email an enquiry.

5 litres for a stocker if you get more than that in without showing on the stick, you have a hole in your sump. Disclaimer- this is for a seventies 351.

Nutter, are you sure thats for a Clevo?
Ford stopped making and using Clevo's in about 83 and you have quoted "FORD Bronco 5.8L (1985-1987) ". I think the info you found is for a 351Windsor.
Mobil Netlube states 4.5l for 81-85 model.

fruck i copy and pasted the wrong years (dick head), but with that said I mine actually is bronco sumped and takes 5.5 with Z9 filter

I'm not sure where these sites actually get some of these numbers, according to penrite a clevo in a falcon only takes 3.5 litres....now thats way off the mark!

I changed the oil in my Bronco last weekend, just over 5.5 litres including filter...
