oil light coming on ????
oil light coming on ????
Hi guys have a GQ 4.2 efi petrol and since doing an oil change last week the oil light comes on then goes of again while driving..l am running magnatec oil and a Z9 filter. l have noticed that the oil pressure is not as high since changing the oil but runs a little under half on the guage once warmed up....
Can anyone help me with this problem.
Cheers Chris

The Z9 is not the correct filter, change it! These vehicles were prone to sender failures but all they normally did was run low on the gauge.
Although an old style pushrod engine is more suited to oil a thicker oil the oil you are using shouldn't be an issue, the pressure may be lower but it would suggest a greater issue if the light came on at anytime other than at hot idle(where the pump output is low due to low rotational speed).

the Z9 wont hurt it. it might take a little longer to fill when first put on, but once it's full it wont matter
