Thats a damn good question, I was in LA 3 months ago and I looked high and low for a 4wd store that had the correct ARB locker that I wanted and fund nothing. I was going to bring it back in hand luggage.

Bought a Lock-right from WWW.rocky-road.com and found them to be a very reliable company.
When you go to checkout, use the bottom shipping option for a total quote.

Sounds good, i've actually got a 3 inch kit on my ute at the moment that came from superior engineering (i bought it before i saw the locktup kit), i havent even taken it on a trail yet but i already know it wont flex much, its mainly biased to road use, which is what i wanted at the time. But now i've got a company car after i finish my 1uz conversion  i'll be ordering alot of gear from locktup haha

$945- isnt that cheap, For the sake of $50 to $100 dollars I would be buying in Aus.

By no mean am I well off, but I would prefer the small ammount of money shops make out of these to stay in Aus.

as they didn't sell GQs in the states you may struggle, they may say yeah we have them but from a few people in the past the promise is nowhere near the reality

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I SERIOUSLY CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!!!

I bought stuff from them years ago and they were fine. I stupidly bought from them more recently and I've never had a more painful, more protracted or more expensive lesson in why you should support local.

Absofarkinlutely farkin useless. Told me about 20 straight lies about my order, when it would be shipped, why it wasn't shipped, why they shipped the parts separately, why they made me wait months and months for them to ship the wrong parts separately, the works. Spent a fortune on phone calls because the pricks wouldn't return emails, or kept blaming someone else in the company, or someone else shipping the goods, or the manufacture for this or for that, all absolute bullshit.

Because of them I was without my car for 2+ weeks whilst it was in parts up on a lift as they'd shipped the wrong stuff (and we didn't realise) and that was after waiting from February to May for stuff they said they had in stock and could deliver in 10 days. Stuff I paid for. Ended up costing me a shit load more as I had to source local parts.

Do you reckon I got a refund? A promised discount? A promised credit? Anything? Would they take the part back and refund? No, they're useless farking khunts and I hope to god they shut down and shut down soon. A ruder bunch of useless pricks I doubt you could come across.

Google them and Jeep, you'll come up with more than a few threads with similar comments to mine.

DON'T BUY FROM THEM, IT'S NOT WORTH IT!!! :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words:

PS the only good to come out of all this is Wombat 4x4 came through with the goods and service, at a very, very decent price. They could have screwed me over (and deservedly so for all the running around they had to do for me) and they didn't. So big thumbs up for those fellas.
Apparently people think I'm too patronising (that means I treat them like they’re stupid).

Glenn at Rock Road seems to be bi polar or something as some people have the best service etc from him whilst others have an experience like Ben's' Read through any of the US forums and you will get so many differing opinions and experiences it's hard to believe it's the same company.

Personally i would buy the ARBs from australia as you will have better warranty or at least a guaranteed warranty and support the local product plus the installation service they can provide. It realy isnt that much more for peace of mind should something happen IMO. We mainly bring in goods that are not of Aus origin.

You and many others say you cant get them this cheap through ARB / people that sell ARB, If you are a regular customer of a store that looks after you should be able get very close to the States price Easily.

So many people just assume that it cheaper in the states, when in actual fact if your have the right attitude you can get them over here just as easily and a very similar price.

I have just received two quotes from USA sites listed in this thread and confirm including shipping to my door the best price beats the best price I received locally by more than $400

Buying from o/s online is not something I'd do for big money items. What are you going to do if they take your money and then just decide not to send the item?

I got a set of tcase gears off them $500 AUD delivered to my door. Came with full set of gaskets and seals new trailgear 4.7 gear nob half the bearings and stickers. Why anybody would pay over $1000 from and Austrailian company for 3 gears is beyond me.

Well it seems to me not everone who owns a 4WD is in the automotive industry to get cheap prices unlike guys like my self don't wish to buy over inflated prices. All l can say is l have had high performance street cars and l thought that was a expensive to buy parts but owning a 4wd is unbelievable even for second hand parts......

At the end of the day a dollar saved is better in my pocket no matter where l buy the item from but seems the states is the place to buy....

Of course we like to keep dollars in our pockets but i don't think thats the point that CWBYUP is trying to make. I looked into getting an airlocker from the states and then went and hit up the local guys; as CWBYUP said I went in with the right attitude and walked out of the store with an airlocker for under 1100, sales staff are willing to make deals espcially at places like the 4x4 show which is where I hit up a few of the ARB guys and they came up with the goods a week later when I walked into the store to pick up my airlocker.

There seems to be a lot of businesses down in VIC especially that are keen for your business and if you do the ring around you will find that buying stuff like airlockers especially will work out pretty much the same as buying from the states.

Of course there are other things like detroit and lockrite lockers which are sold by some businesses over here for ridiculous amounts of money where buying from the states can save you hundreds of dollars. lockedup seem to be well sorted on prices though.
