i still think im an idiot lol.
proved the front and rear lockers helped.. the rear wheels were ongravel, so itd have been the fronts that dragged it up.
got two massive batteries installed in bris, they can startt car with 7 headlights/spotlights on, a sub and amplifier without actually making the headunit pause even a second ahh two truck batteries for the win
while at mates house, decided to test something seemingly impossle (from looking at it anyway), then had a stab about driving up a 50 odd degree incline..
gotta love the approach angle wait til the 2" lift and winch goes in next week
it was steeper than it looked, retaining wall stopped at end since i wasnt sure was was past the conrete, and didnt want hang up on it.

i once went for a lap up the river near my house with a mate and my missus
it is a cruisy sort of drive for about 800m then it gets tricky quicksand silt traps and deep water it was gettin late so thought better head back we always follow the same route back island to island
but stooopid me seen a sand/gravel ledge and had to have a go by all means dooable but not that day sunk to sills in silt water up to the back seat
and gettin dark
my mate was only in a scat so had no hope in gettin me out so after a few phone calls got the boys out and after 4 hours of digging a burnt solenoid pack on the winch and some violent snatching i was out
havnt been up the river very far since
ps yep me stoopid to
but in my defence i had been up there and thought i knew were the soft spots were i was wrong

Good story dude, glad to see you and vehicle are A-ok. Isn't it funny how the "quick blast and return" trips allways end in tears.
Mate, you've sometimes gotta experience a Murphy's-ruled fvckup like that in order to make sure your other adventures go smoother. Hell, i know i've made a few inexperienced and ill-prepared mistakes in my time. Hey, what doesn't kill you makes you crazier (or something like that).
I can guarantee you will be a much better 4wheeler for this experience. Those boy scouts amongst us who have never been through such an ordeal have either (a) not had a decent go, or (b) have been extremely lucky. Their time will come if they exercise point (a) enough.
Once again, great story. And rest assured that you're not the only d1ckhead out there, there's heaps of us. At least now you're a wiser d1ckhead. If i'm ever up in your part of the world I look forward to a bit of wheelin' with you.
BTW, in the mud and slop get yourself some simexes, us mexicans don't use 'em just for looks you know.

Some handy emergency get out of jail free systems there. Here's another one.....with 2 batteries, yes I know they were low, but you could hook them up in series to boost the output, it may have got you started in the first place. A word of warning tho, for the owners of "modern" vehicles, especially with some computer type components, I accept no responsibility for frying your computer if it gets too many volts. But on an old clunker it mite work.

Do you know the kinda guy that owns stupid 4x4's and drives them ino ridiculous places only to wander around lost for hours at a time? Or the kinda guy that owns 10 sports cars without appearing to have any real actual job?
His name is Mark.
LOL.. I found it amusing. I can see the amusing side of my stupidity
as been said before, im one that learns my lessons.. maybe the hard way, but it wont happen again

Right of passage = true story..
I had 2 european backpackers (hot birds I must say one from finland other from sweden) in my shorty and I took them to stockton to show them the dunes. I did the big russel coight thing and told 'em something about airing down XD AHAHAHA
We get there. I go up this less frequented way onto the beach dont make it first attempt and start to reverse out. While I am reversing I am still doing the russel coight thing with one of the girls, explaining how stockton has some really soft sand and you have to be mindfull when driving As I wasn't paying attention my car pops out of the tracks I have made and slides down a steep little soft sand bank into the mangroves and there it stayed for quite a few hours..
I loled for hours on end afterwards..
THats a hot paj I must say..

That is one funny story. I think I would have just tied it to a tree with a snatch strap and then slept in it (well maybe sat up awake in it) until the next day. The next day would hopefully bring sun with it to dry out the tracks and you could have driven out.
I deal with slippery tracks a lot in forestry areas. The tracks are by no means difficult but with a little bit of rain forward momentum can prove difficult. Especially when combined with hills and side slopes. Even more when you combine that with company fines for track damage etc.
My silly mistake involved driving around by myself in a sand type quarry and drove too close to a side edge and the edge gave way with my car slipping sideways down an embankment. Didn't go far but completely off the track and I couldn't drive out (no lockers in that car). However I just spooled the winch cable out and I was back on my way in about 20mins

Yes where was it you were playing? Is it in Mt Mee or around that area. Mt Mee is comprised of very slippery clay when it rains. Combined with lots of steep tracks.Pinball wrote: should i ask which park you were playing in?
Although the vegetation looks wrong for Mt Mee. More like a Lamington NP area. Just guessing though so how about you straighten this up
Arms up for posting pics of your fcuk up though

at the end of the day, you have to stuff up to find out what you "should have done", you had sooo many stuff ups that you will be a super driver now
seriously......look at how much you learnt! recovery techniques, survival tips, next purchases for the truck, safety items.....etc. you have learnt in one trip, what it has taken some of us years to learn the hard way.
just be thankful that no one got hurt, the truck got home, and your wiser for the ordeal!
