Hi guys,
This may sound very dumb but you get that.
Is there such thing as an all round 35" tyre i want to get 35's but as i do about 50/50 driving am i dreaming? Or do i just buy 35's and keep my 31's for road use?
any help comments appreciated.

i dont like driving around on 35s for many reasons, illegal, worse fuel economy and diminished braking ability is just the start.
i would keep a daily and a play set, but if you wanna go a decent 50/50 35 i have been nicely impressed by my cooper st 315/75R16
but you ahve to rememeber, once a tyre is half worn, its no where near as good as they are when new, so if i was gonna splash out for 35s i would get a tough play set, and keep them just for the weekends

thanks for the replys gents may just do as most recomend and keep the 31's and just get a set of 35's for play. although i would really like to run 35's all the time but hey i guess we cant have it all can we.

we have a shorty patrol and im with dez the mickey thompson mtz's are a great tyre they are fine on the road and fairly good in the scrub
BUT really there is no such thing as an all round tyre
On our longy we have 35 muddies 4 road and 35 centipedes 4 scrub

If you want 35's and not the 31's then MTs are the go, check the 239084234982304803298teen threads on tires for a selection... Dozens of them to choose from.
IMWO, 2 sets of tires and rims you cant beat. Best of both worlds.
Trolley jack, car stands and one of them T wheel Braces, 20mins change the 5.
As MyGQ said 35's aren't illegal........
Its the rim off set and tyre width that put you outside the law.
If you want to stay legit......just make sure you check the wheel track.

as a retailer of tyres i can offer this info...
35" tyres will put your speedo out by abuot 8%
if you run 31" tyres during the day and 35's on weekends. your speedo will ba true turing the week and not whan you use 35's but your low transfer will cope fine in 4wd.
If you only wish to use 35's than you can change your diff ratio to comansate for larger tyres and fuel comsumption can stay near the same.
Most brand tyres in mud pattern are allright on road and allright off road. but you sound like you wish to do a bite more in the bush.
So i say replace your diffs one gear lower than standerd run 33's off a week than run 35-37's off a weekend. This will give the greatest all round abillaty
as most comps are passed on 33" or 37" tyres.
This will allow you to run a larger tyre in the week with better offroad abilaty and use a 35"-37" tyre on weekends were you mostly do your harder driveing or comps. can contact murray on 0429-193238 for more info

4.6 or more is the way to go with 35s
also its a GQ not a GU so more lift or cutting is required for 35s
