OFFROAD 4WD Insurance for under 25's
Hey, just wondering does anyone know of a company that will insure a 4WD for someone under 25 years of age for offroad use?
How modified is the vehicle? - (it may effect the under 25 bit)
Can try the mob that I use:
Insurance Advisernet, offices in Sydney and Brisbane.
www.insuranceadviser.net I think. If tis wrong, google it.
$900 a year for me to insure two highly modified comp vehicles (- total value of $64,000, one is a softtop and engineered for 35's, the other is engineered for 37's) anywhere in Australia for fire/ stolen/ flood/ beach/ rolled/ 4wd park etc.
!! DO Get all that in writing!!
Everything except for competition work. Pretty good deal I reckon.
Lets see NRMA/GIO/SUN corp/ADG/TCIS beat that.
If they do insure you, tell them that I sent you so they can give me a discount on my next years premium.

if it is legal, with CGU you are covered for everything, on the condition you are legally there (private property must have permission of land owner)

Re: OFFROAD 4WD Insurance for under 25's
What sort of cover are you after? Most companies will insure you as long as the vehicle is road worthy given the modifications on it.stilivn wrote:Hey, just wondering does anyone know of a company that will insure a 4WD for someone under 25 years of age for offroad use?
As bushy555 suggested, give a broker a call such as Insurance Advisernet, they will have access to a few different markets but bear in mind that a differece in price may also mean a difference in policy cover between two policies.
Most motor vehicle policies issued by most authorised Australian Insurers will cover your vehicle and its associated liabilities on any gazeted road in Australia. It might be worth checking with the 4wding body in your state aswell. The Victorian Association of 4wd Clubs has a scheme through a broker in Melbourne called Affinity Risk partners and is underwriten by Lumleys.
Mine's through the 4WD club policy and TCIS brokers, OAMPS... covered for all that and competitions, 6 of non-timed per year. Costs extra (bout $100.00) but worth it for the peace of mind on the daily driver and play rig.bushy555 wrote:How modified is the vehicle? - (it may effect the under 25 bit)

Most others bailed on the level of modification, despite it all being legal and roadworthy/ engineered.

ok then, so a cpl of nights ago, someone ran into my week old hilux surf. later that day my insurance company decided to inform me that they dont cover imported vehicles, so now im left with a damaged, uninsured vehicle... now i have the name and address of the guy who hit me so im gunna go and see him and find out if he has 3rd party, but im still left with the dillema of an uninsured car. anyone know who insures imports other than shannons (who arent cheap and prefer my vehicle to be fairly modded already), or just car (who seem to have farked policies and want me to give a written application EVERY time i make ANY mods, no matter how minor, to the car)
for a 21 yr old male driver

what he means is that you had a covernote or insurance on the vehicle at the time of the crash?? if so, Im fairly sure they cant say sorry bad luck. otherwise they would do this to every one and never pay out.macca81 wrote:it wasnt even on covernote tho. as soon as they knew it was import they said no, they didnt even know about an accident
what i mean is, no, i had no form of insurence on it at the time. if i did then i would be much happier than i am now... i have to wait to see if the other guy has insurance.
i have had the car about a week when the accident occured, during that week my stepfather (whom the insurance for all our cars is under the name of) had been trying to get in contact with the insurance company, by the time he did the accident had already occured, and they would cover me anyway as i drive an import. the company was never told about the accident as at the time my vehicle was not even on there system, let alone quoted or covered.
this is another reason i dont want this company anyway, they took a week before you could get past the 'on hold' music....

If you have the details of the the third party responsible for the damage caused to your vehicle, your best bet would be to see if the vehicle that hit you is insured, get them to admit liability and find out whether or not they are prepared to make a claim under this policy. As they are the policy holder and not you, it is up to them whether or not they lodge a claim under their policy.macca81 wrote:IT WAS PARKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! someone else ran into my PARKED car!!!

If the other party does not want to admit liability and claim under their insurance, from the circumstances you have described it sounds like you would have reasonable grounds to seek subrogation against the third party responsibe for the damage, you will need to find legal representation to demand a recovery.
Your best bet would be try a "no win no pay" legal firm, or have a chat to legal aid in your state/territory and explain the circumstances.
As far as trying to get your damaged vehicle insured now, you will have buckleys and none of insuring a damaged vehicle.
