1uzfe into 80 series

Post by hitech4x4 »

sorry to post about this i know their are a few posts already i have looked but none really answer my questions,
1hz 80 series will the 2uz bell housing swap over from the 100 series,
and also which fly wheel, 2uz or 1uz,
i know its only a small engine but my 80 is only a single cab ute with custom tray so it would weigh less than a 4runner easily,
any info would be appreciated, has any one done this swap, and if so does the engine fit ok in the rear of the fire wall if i keep the gearbox where it is.

The input shaft into the 100series/2uz box is different to the 1hz/H150f combo, so if you can get ahold of the 2uz 5 speed, bolt it to the 1uz using the 2uz flywheel, then bolt your part time xfer case behind that. there is someone in the members section here that if building a big 40 series with a 1uz/100 series box combo.

Failing all that, buy a rolled/stacked 2uz 100 series, pick the bits off it you want, using the 2uz (the cast iron block on them hold up EXTREMELY well when boost is jammed in, which you are thinking of doin shortly ;) ;) ), as it has more low end torque than the 1uz, and the 20 kw deficit shouldnt be a problem

2uz bellhousing is direct bolt on but the input shafts are different from memory (researcherd this 2 years ago 4 a bundera project)

you will need a 2uz flywheel as 1uz only came auto and therefore only have flex plates

The 100 series box is a H151F, different 1st/2nd gear ratios and input shaft to the H150F. I think i recall someone putting the 151 input into a 150....cant remember where i seen it tho

yea if its possible i think i will try to find a price on the input shaft,
out of interest wats the difference between the two shafts, besides the ratio difference in the box, i know the 151 out of the hdt has more splines, but are they longer. ?

Did anyone 'film' that? Or just photos?

Tonight or tomorrow night is fine if you want to bring the Cruiser on to the weighbridge. After about 6:30 it gets quiet.

Best part, if you kill it (bloody hard to do) <$1000 gets you another motor.

The verdict: 140kg heavier than my 4Runner. But it has a big iron diesel donk, plus 5 x 37" tyres on steel rims and recovery gear.....
