my mystery part?

Post by McGyver »

hi all, i am in the process of totally stripping my 95 sierra.

After removing a cover for the fuel filler hose on the inside of the car i found a small tank that would hold maybe 300 or 400 ml with 2 hoses plumbed into it, no lid/cap or breather? does anyone know what this is?

Petrol expands with temperature, if you fill youre tank full and it heats up, it needs somewhere to go...

yea i understand how fuel expands. but the way i look at it unless one pipe is tubed to atmousphere there is no venting of pressure ( except the flex in rubber hose, flex in plastic container and the ability to compress air easier than liquid. i get that you guys said it is a breather and an expansion tank but how? thanks lindsay :)
