What are these? and does anyone have a wiring diagram?

Post by ZUKPOWER »

Hi Guys,
I've just put a 1.6L 8v in my Sierra and i'm having trouble connecting it up. On the 1.3L there's 2 little plastic thingys with black cylinders on top connected to what i think are vacuum tubes.

On the 1.6L there's only one of these thingys...what are they?
Also, can anyone tell me which wire went to which plastic thingy on the 1.3L cause my texta rubbed off.

Another problem i've found is the wiring to the carby is different between the 1.3L and 1.6L. Can anyone post up a wiring diagram or tell me which wire goes where?

Cheers :)

Vacuum solenoids, will be used for idle up under electrical loads (air-con, headlights). There should be two tubes off it. One to the vacuum source, manifold vac and the other to the vac actuator ,mushroom shaped with a push rod hanging out of it. This should be connected to the throttle shaft through a set of linkages. Quite hard to set up correctly and to be honest I wouldn't worry about them. Engine may drop 100ish rpm under electrical load with out it connected.

When I put the 1600 8v in mine I had probs getting it to idle. On the vit carb is a idle solinoide (somthing like that) that needs power to it for the engine to idle. Not sure if thats what it is cant tell from the pics.

that is the solenoid for the egr valve , theres a vacuum line from the base of the carb to a water temp switch , then it goes to the solenoid , then it goes to the egr valve , the plug that plugs to it is operated by one the switches off the gearbox.

the only real wiring you need to the carb is the anti dieselling solenoid (fuel cut solenoid) it requires 12v at ignition on to open the solenoid to allow fuel to enter the idle circuit
