I was just looking at the entry form for Engel and where the entry fees are displayed it only states "camping and 2 dinners". Is breakfast not included and more? $60 to bring a partner and $75 for crew, seems a bit rich to me for 2 meals of the recent standard. What happened to being able to self cater?

If the food you are describing at the last couple of events inculdes cooked potatoes as hard as apples, last nights bolognaise with flies for breakfast, sausages you can chisel with.......... then I agree.
But let me assure you the caterer at round 1 knows how to cook and I'm sure you wont have any complaints about his cooking!
Not sure about breakfast but I ythink it may be self catered.

That's a relief on the catering side of things Jonesy. $60 to bring your partner and $75 for my crew still sounds a bit rich. When I bring the truck to an event, don't the clubs/ organisers make the money from the gate because of the presence of the competitors? Seems as though the competitors who bring in the spectators or gate money, are getting the rough end of the pineapple here. Why are we expected to pay more for less service/ meals? Why isn't there an option to self cater like every other comp? $60/$75 for 2 meals is just out of line.

Well, Version 8 of the CCDA FWD Manual of Motor Sport (Rules) looks like they have now been released via the CCDA's new website! Check out the link here:
http://www.ccda4wd.com.au/images/CCDAFW ... portV8.pdf

If you have been hanging out for version 8 before getting your entries in for round 1 of the engel 4wd challenge series, have a read.

Word is that the property and tracks are awesome for round 1. Some people have attended the working bees but there will be more in the next few weeks. If you want to help out at a working bee and check out the tracks prior, get in touch with Geoff on 0424661401.

Round 1 should be an excellent event for all & spectators will be very happy also!

Great news Pete.
Although it shouldn't be too hard to beat my pretty red truck.

How do you think you will cope racing with 200kw less than you have got now?

I'm heading up on Sunday 9th March to the Round 1 property to assist where I can doing what needs to be done. Everyone is welcome and I now believe teams are permitted to drive stages as a reward for assisting.
Anyone keen??

Engel Round Onr

Post by Dynamic GQ »

Yeah Jonesy, I'll be up there.

It is my understanding that the event organisers want trucks to drive some of the new stages that they have built.

It's a great opportunity to get a sneak peak of what we will be in for. From what I here 2-3 winches per stage.

Engel Round 1

Post by Dynamic GQ »

Only 13 or 14 entries so far & only 1 Production Class. Come on guys, there was several trucks & Vic Winch last year that can slot straight in to Production Class. No reason why you cant enter.

On another note; I was up at the working bee today. Tracks look awsum. Multiple winches on most stages. Still need to put a few more trucks on tracks to help bed them in.
Coops will be there again tomorrow for those of you who aren't doing anything. It's a great chance for a sneak peak at what you will be in for.

I was also up there yesterday arvo with Jonesy and it finally looks like a winch challenge will be just that. I'm stage manager for our club and we are running SS6 on Saturday which involves 5-6 obstacles with most requiring a winch recovery  Should have plenty of action to watch

Hope the amount of entries increase though as some dedicated people have put in a lot effort and it would be a shame not to have a full field.

Sounds great guys. The numbers were down last year and the event was great. It would be a shame to see that happen again. Have you let people know its on buy advertising it and getting the word out. Also, if you list the current entry list it entices other competitoers to participate.

Hey Kevvy as long as you are going that should be a big enough draw card for spectators and maybe that what's also scaring the drivers away too......

Spectators are welcome on Sunday 30th March. The gates open at 7am. For those of you thinking of bringing the family & kiddies, there will be an animal farm & jumping castle to keep them entertained. Catering on site but dont forget to bring yourselves a camp chair & sunscreen for your own comfort!

To get onto the property, you will need to enter Old Fumina Road via Noojee. Please respect the neighbouring properties by keeping your speed to a minimum. The property is well sign posted.

All of those thiongs have been taken on board. The public carpark is in the adjoining paddock where the spectators will be viewing the action, there will be a few food vendors selling hot & cold food as well as drinks in the same paddock, all the tracks will be soretd by easter and spectators will recieve a showbag upon arrival.
It'll all be good and I'm sure you'll enjoy youurself.
