URGENT-1984 hilux with holden v8 power steering issues
Hi All , I have just (yesterday) fitting a power steer box to my 1984 Hilux with a 253 V8 Holden motor fitted. (beam/solid axle front end) I have just got (Enzed Hose Doctors) to make some new hoses. I was all set to use the Holden power steer pump but I was told yesterday the Holden pumps seem to boil the fluid to a froffy mass. I was also told Ford pumps around XF model (same to look at as the Holden pump) work better (something to do with a different valve set-up). Is this correct before fitting the Holden pump up ??? If anyone has fitted power steering to a Hilux with a Holden V8 what pump did you use ??? Many Thanks- Trent. ph.0438177776
power steer
The problem is I dont have the standard toyota pump as I only bought the box. Also as I said I just got Enzed to make new long hoses to go along the bottom of the radiator to the left hand side of the chassis (on an angle iron bracket I made up between the chasis rails) & up to the pump on the left hand side of the motor. The new hoses alone cost $286.00. Anyone else use either a holden or a ford pump & how do the work ???
