give me a few months and i'll let you know.

From what ive discovered so far.

3.0TD will fit physically under the bonnet.

you will need to move your engine mounts about 40mm backwards (apparently)

You need a $575 adaptor from Marks adaptors to adapt the 3.0TD's R151 gearbox to the G52 gear drive transfer case.

The EASIEST way to do the swap is to buy a KZN130 surf halfcut- theyre practically identical to a hilux in layout, but with the turbo motor. YOu need to swap the entire wiring loom, because of the ECU.

A good halfcut surf will set you back about $5500.

If you want to keep it simple, track down a low km 5L motor- its the 3.0L NA diesel, will bolt to your existing mounts and gearbox and then down the track you can turbo it later.

the 3.0TD is a great engine to drop into it, but its far from a straight forward swap.

I went for a half cut 3.0TD for my LJ70 (bundera). Best thing I ever did. The transfer was just unbolt and bolt on and move engine mounts. A surf half cut would be best.

You way want to consider the 5L (3.0l) NA engine. With a turbo its reputed to be almost the same as the 3.0LTD.

Need to know which 3.0 litre you are thinking about .

A 5L/E (3.0 litre) is the same block and stroke the 3L (2.8 litre)

The 1KZ-TE (3.0 litre turbo) is a totaly different animal all together.
