The Jimny auto fits with only mild trans tunnel mods and is acutally about 1/2" shorter than the manual. It will bolt to the carby engine but it will have no idea how to shift as it needs a TPS and VSS signal to control shifting.
Another option for a carby 1.3 would be a vitara trimatic with a 1.3/1.6 adapter plate used "back to front" and a custom tailshaft housing. Then it only needs the starter interlock, kickdown cable and vacuum. With no OD though, gearing becomes an issue.
One option is electronically complex, the other is more mechanical.

i would think the vss would be easy, as the vitara one bolts into the WT sierra cluster.
tps no idea unless you maybe go TPI injection but not sure if that has a tps.

This could be possible but would require a good working knowledge of what the Jimny TCC was looking for, signal wise. sitting down with a Jimny FSM and going though the interface between the ECU and the TCC would be required.
As said, the VSS is simple, TPS isn't all that complex but getting it all to work and shift/kickdown properly could be a fair challenge
Steve.
