High pressure steering line fittings

Hey guys,

im just wondering im chasing high pressure steering fittings from a VQ statesman 5 litre power steering pump, and a 80 series power steering box.
anyone got any clues on where to get them. i only need fittings not the lines.
and does anyone know for sure if 60, 75 series etc will fit an 80 box?
and same with bommadore pump, anyone know if V6 or other series VT etc will fit??

i need the fittings so i can get a custom hose made up.

Hilux,and all cruiser fittings are the same. Best bet is a damaged set of lines at a wreckers. The Low presure side is generally easy to find. The high pressure side is harder to find as this is the first to usually fail. But a lot of wreckers will have a set that are rooted because some stupid yard worker cut them off while removing the motor.

The Powersteering pump one can be had from 6cyl, V6 and V8 commodores,Kingswoods Any falcon as well. These should be real easy to get.

I dont know where you would be able to buy any of these new.

your info on the commodore one contradicts most wreckers. but they had trouble understanding i just wanted the fitting not the whole thing.

found a 60 series one from a 12hdt. so im hoping it will fit.

Just been thru all this not long ago.

I took both hoses to PIRTEK and they weld nipples to the ends you need and make a hose with swivel fittings on each end so you dont have to worry about the angles .
They also cut the steel inner (dampener) in the commodore hose and re-use it.

Cost $95.00

I went to a power steering place local to me to get a commodore pump to Landcruiser 40 box hose made up, cost around $80

thats pretty much what i was doign but old mates coming to my shed to do it as cashy.
but he quoted me still abit high.. he said though he will use 4000psi line. so i can keep my options open later for hi flow or other things.
is 4000psi the normal gear or is it heavy duty?

later model saginaw pumps use M16 - 1.5 fittings,
so does the toyota box inlet!! earlier saginaw use 5/8-18 SAE outlet fittings. both are cheap and easily accesible at a decent hydraulics outlet. Dont be talked into cutting and brazing fittings that is crap!!! they only do that cus they want the extra $$$$ Eg: a ryco M7-1612 is about $6.50 (m16 to 3/4" jic). As for hose the "4000psi' is that the burst pressure??? 1m of 2wire hose 15000psi burst is about $12-15.

Speedflow Taree make aluminium fittings in sizes for most power steer pumps/boxs. 4000psi hose would be 2-wire 3/8" hydraulic hose. Bit of a overkill but wont hurt. Always used a high temp rated 1 wire hose on my own cars, still rated to about 2750psi.

Silver soldering (not brazing) HP fittings is fine as long as the person doing it knows what they are doing. I silver solder 6000psi (working pressure) hydrostatic transmission lines quite regulary without a problem. We don't do it because we want extra $$$$$, its usually because the customer has some weird fitting and wants his machine going now.......not tomorrow. It would be nice to stock every concievable type and size of fitting, but it wont happen in the real world. And sometimes you just can't buy what you want.

We also do silver solder heaps of PS hoses, can do most cheaper doing this than changing all the fittings
