can any one help - repeater network for cliffhanger

Post by Hobzee »

Can any one help...

We need to set up a repeater on the Cliffhanger property. It's too big for normal radio comms. 25watt radios can talk to one another but that's about it.

Who do we call or see about setting up a UHF repeater on high ground?

Timing is 7 days - 2nd week of July in Far Nth West NSW - White Cliffs. Sensational country.

Why not invite the local or Broken Hill Army Reserves out there for a free trip. They would more than likely jump at the chance and have more than enough gear to do the job for you. ;)

My dad's in WICEN up here in QLD and he used to be the mobile repeater setup for Rally QLD, he wasn't paid for it, don't know if the group got anything for it or it was used as training exercises but they would be worth a shot.

2x prm 8030 off ebay $400

one truck battery , $free

2x antanas and misc bits $100

1x cross over repeater cable to suit prm 8030 $50 ish

someone who can program them $ free ;)

quickest way to run a repeater, different radio band in the prm can do cross band repeater, etc, etc.

BUt get in contact with amatuer radio or wicen. Donate a few $$ and theyll gladly run comms for a weekend. Its their hobby.
