I have spoken to a few companies about turbocharging the 5L-e EFI hilux engine.
One company uses a DP chip while 2 other companies send the EFI pump away to get recalibrated
Which is the better option IMO running a DP chip or Unichip or something similar would be the best option.
I'd like to know more about having the EFI pump recalibrated and how good it works.
Thanx
James

afaik there is nothing in the pump to get recalibrated as such. you can tweak the fuel up easy enough by turning the adjuster on top of the pump. however this will mean excess fuel when off boost which is proberly ok if you only upping the fuel a small amount.
however any decent amount you will need someway of making it add fuel only when under boost.
i have heard of someone useing a 1kz-te ECU on one. no idea how it went or how much hassle it was to fit.

The 5le pump has a rom on the side of it. When testing it, information is then inputed into this rom about the pumps settings, this helps set up fueling. The spill valve has no adjustment on it.
So you are right in the two choices you have. The dp would be the most convenient as it can be removed down the track.
Hope this helps.
