aftermarket diff gears

ok so im getting new diff gears to run in my GU wagon 42TDt so i can turn the 37s easier and im looking at 4.6's! does this sound about right- or should i go 4.8's
also i have been told to get genuine as aftermarket ones break to easy and they only make up to 4.6's and thats fine, but are the aftermarket ones really that bad because genuine ones ar around the $2200 and after market are around the $500 for full sets!
the aftermarket ones im looking at are BBM ones (bigballs racing) does anyone have personla experience with these and how much abuse they have had!

well im looking at putting in some 4.88's as im running a GQ Rb30 and planning on chucking some 35's under there in the next few weeks. i was told u cant get genuine 4.88's and they make a bit more noise than genuine ones? as long as it aint louder than a muddies hum im happy though.

4.6 is more suited to 35's. but having said that i run 38's on my 4.6's and it goes fine. if i was daily driving on the 38's i would consider 4.88. but they are trailer tyres and i never do more then about 60 kmh on them.
have heard bad things about aftermarket sets too...and couldnt believe the price of genuine.

i think 4.6s would be the go!
Factory in the rear. ( all ks are travelled on the rear)
Aftermarket in the front ( only worked when offroading)
i have a TD42T Wagon with a factory turbo upgrade ( 3 inch zorst ,dump pipe ,16 pound boost blah blah blah) and i fitted 4.3 ratios for my 35 inch claws and the gearing is spot on, and i still have heaps of gearing up my sleave, i am glad i didint go 4.6s , it would have been over geared for my truck. with GU 4.2 T being 3.9 ratios standard 4.3 are right for 35s "one ratio up for each inch above standard tyre size.
So 4.6s would be the right size for 37s , and still cruize nicely down the Hwy without screaming its nuts off!!!

I reckon that your spot on, I have 35 with 4.3 and its spot on. I'm glad that I didn't go for the 4.6's .
