looking at a 80 with a damaged box. Any one with rough idea of costs for a rebuild or second hand 5spd. thanks

another box second hand should be under 1k
rebuilding it will be about 2500ish

thanks, a little dearer than i thought on the rebuild. under 1000 for 2nd hand not to bad.

I just sold one of those boxes for under $500 second hand, so they are out there.

the rebuild/overhaul is expensive, the synchros ain't cheap, and the bearings are BIG ie also expensive.

I got a brand new one from toyota 12months ago for $3900 and it was a b model which is ment to have the problems fixed

i guess if i could find a decent second unit it would be worth it. Amything over 1000 is to much, around 500 would be good. I just had an suto built for a drag car and that cost 3000. I thought a rebuilt manual for an 80 would be heaps cheaper but im learning otherwise. thanks to evey one
