37" baja radial claws on Gu patrol

Post by rippin »

I have a 02 GU patrol wagon, currently running 35" Maxis Bighorns, and now looking for upgrade on new tyres. Tried a set of 37" Baja Claw radials and they fit perfect. Looking at buying them tomorrow. Chose the Radial claws and not Bias as they will be a every day driver tyre. Bitchi during the week and bush on the weekends. Does any think the 37's will slow my truck down much more than my 35's ?

yes it will affect fairly considerably and also next time playing in low 1st on some hills you find your self using to much clutch to slow the big girl up :!:

i have 38s on a gq 4.2 deisel with standard diffs and gears it struggles up hills real bad on road and there is barely any difference between 4th and 5th. What bingham said about your clutch is right you will also use alot more clutch going uphill in the bush just to keep them turning ive already had a new clutch and i can barely get out of 1st in low range because i loose so much torque through the tyres (turbo may help this ). Also usually 37s are a wider tyre which means your turning circle will decrease and you will have more drag on the road i am trying to buy 35s even 33s at the moment just because of the strain that the 38s put on everything especialy power steering.

I run 37x12.5 Maxxis crawlers on my ute, it steers, handles and is quiter then the 33 BF muddies which they replaced. My truck is non turbo'd diesel so it aint ever gonna be fast. They do however cause a lot of drag on the beach due to size of foot print.
