75series UTE info

Post by DEZZA »

Hay guys recently sold my hilux and zook for a deposit on house. now im ready for a new toy

was thinking 75 series ute plans RnR lockers and 33s weekend rockcrawling and long distant touring, will the lancruiser be my best choice or should i go back to a leaf sprung lux.

what yr did they start the 4.2L, and would you still consider a 4.0L

is the suspension a big deal to mod being spua will i be able to get as much flex etc. as a lux as i have heard a few comments not 2 go a cruiser for this reason.

i had 2inch spring 2inch shackle and 2inch blocks in the lux is this around what is needed for a cruiser

any info would be great cheers

mate run the 75 series, i used to run 37s with 2 inch spring and extended shackles, pretty much the same as team bullets truck, the old 2h are a good engine but a little under powered, the 4.2 diesel are a lot better and im pretty sure that they came out in 89 or 90 , if you can find a turbo one even better, just comes down to how much you want to play around with them,

have a look at my build up

yeah the 4.2 (1hz) came out late 1990, apparently the early ones had a few bugs, that were obviously fixed as its not uncommon to see 1hz's getting around with 500k plus. ive got a 2h and yes they are a little underpowered. mine was rebuilt 100k ago, i got 2.5inch exhaust extractors, hiclone k&n filter and fuel wound up a bit and it goes much better then stock. turbo would be good and are alos common on the 2h or 1hz. personally i'd go for the cruiser for touring due to the bigger payload, lower centre of gravity, and wide wheel track then the hilux. i used to think my 2h was slow until i raced my mate with a 2.8 hilux...
