Hilux front leaf replacement

Post by TommyC »

Hello All,

This is my first post, as I just bought a 1995 Hilux double cab diesel.

There aren't many hilux in the US, so I hope you excuse what may seem a rather simple question....

My front leaf springs are inverted and the truck rides pretty rough because of it. Does anyone know if I could replace my 1995 front leaf springs with the springs from an older (pre 88) toyota truck with solid front axle? That was the last year that toyota imported solid axle trucks to the US.

Also, if anyone in Australia is interested in acquiring some US spec parts in exchange for pulling some Aussie parts for me, I have a few breaker yards nearby that are filled with Toyotas. Just PM me.

Thanks,

Tom

I am confused wouldn't the 95 model have IFS with torsion bars up front?

That's all we get here in Oz at any rate.

toyota changed the hiluxs to IFS all round in 1997 here in Oz.

Tommy- Go track down an ARB retailer and see if they can get you a pair of Old Man Emu Dakar spring packs for your front end.

I've got them in my 1992 Dual cab diesel all round and theyre fantastic- only about AU$130 a pack too.
2005 HDJ100 Manual, ARB bar, XD9000 winch, ARB rooftop tent + awning, Drawers, Engel, 2" OME lift, 285/75R16 KM2's, iCom, HID XGT's.

Thanks Ferrit,

I'm thinking it'll be a special order but we do have people who carry ARB products here, mostly Land Cruiser bullbars.

By the way, your truck looks almost identical to mine. Love the red.
