We only found Phil's folly, wreckers run, etc on the last day :cry:

Far and away the best route from NSW central coast to Kingaroy is:

Up the New England Hwy to Willow Tree (top of Hunter Valley past Murrurundi).
Turn off and head for Narrabri via Quirindi and Gunnedah.
Follow Newell Hwy through Moree toward Goondiwindi (just over QLD border).
Take turn to Moonie at roundabout just before Goondiwindi.
From Moonie head for Kingaroy via Dalby.

The route is mostly flat and straight, few towns to slow down through and traffic is light.
I have some property between Bundaberg and Gladstone and find this is the best route - saves a lot of time and not as tiring.

Thanks for that excellent route info John, the road from Dalby up to Manar is good quality flat blacktop, very easy to drive with a trailer. From Dalby, head straight to Jandowae (fuel available here) and on to Durong south (fuel also available - but prolly at own risk

) There is also a well set up servo on the road from Durong South to Manar, just south of the road from Proston - this servo (large Caltex I think) is well set up for all meals and basic supplies.

Is there a link somewhere regarding rules about vehicles for this event?

for example... do they need to be registered? ... do they need to have a roll bar , windscreen etc etc?

ok i've had a coupla drinks but i can't see anything on the rockcrawling website about it.

I know Manar has insurace to cover Un-registered vehicles. This is mainly to allow OUTLAW vehicles to compete. I am not to sure what the ruling is for a vehicle that is not registered and is not in the outlaw class!

That is it!!

I think they are using the KISS system!!! (keep it simple stupid)

Which is not a bad way of doing things!

To me that covers the Classes and also what MODS that are allowed in each class. Do you meen "vehicle requirements" as in safety gear, recover, fire extiguishers (sp), harness's, window nets, helmets and spotter helmets etc etc.

Last year there were no "vehicle requirements" as such. As long as you meet the class distinctions and you have the basic recovery gear listed, you are free to enter - as far as I believe.

POS is right - the comp is based on the KISS principle. The feedback we are receiving here is excellent - this allows the club to tailor the comp for the benefit of everyone. We will discuss these questions and more at the committee level, and post up some more info on the club site.

Manar Park is covered to have unregistered vehicles driving on the property.

I would think it would be in the best interest of the driver to have a suitable rollbar on the vehicle, regardless of the class being entered.

As the position of the club is to be neither mechanics or engineers, vehicle are required to be self scrutineered, but of course there will be a minimum of safety gear on board. This will also be posted on the club site in the near future.

Fire retardant? Ahh yes, all cages, exos, and rollbars must be made from fire retardant pool noodles, combustible noodles will be rejected!! :lol:

Thanks! I just wasn't sure if i could enter an unregistered vehicle with no insurance and in a possibly less than roadworthy condition.

last year we had to wear a helmet, and a rollbar gave you somewhere to tie the "pucker strap" which everyone had to use at least three times.

Yes this would be a great event to start of on!!!!!

The tracks start of easy (which will still be a Big challenge for you) and get harder and harder until theres just a few silly buggers at the end trying to see who can push the LIMITS the most!!!!

If i was you i would be entering for sure!!!!

Just make sure you have a half decent spotter, that has some idea!

Be prepared for some minor rock rash and have fun!!!!!

you would love it....the tracks start off at about ASCC level and get harder and harder.
As an idea of how hard it is ....i managed to do 3 of the stages in an unlocked GU ute with 35'' centipedes.
The fourth stage stopped us in about 10 metres.
