Gti 1.3 into SWB Sierra

Post by JacZook »

Hi all

Just want some info on installing a Gti into a 91 sierra.

How do you mount the engine, use the orignal mounts?

Any ideas how to modify the cap to not hit the firewall?

Can I use the fuel pump out of a Gti tank and install it into a Sierra tank

thanks

Did you search?

A 2min effort netted the following results:

http://pulsr.net/g13b/

http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/phpBB2/vi ... hlight=gti

http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/phpBB2/vi ... hlight=gti

http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... ght=bczook

The first link is probably the only one you'll need. the main issue with the gti is the rear mounted dizzy. You will need to cut a hole in the firewall or get a right angle driveline.
Research is an important part of any build.

Thanks Guys you have really helped me,

I like the idea of the mazda cap and rota, but I think I will cut a hole in the firewall just so I can remove the the cap if needed.

thanks again

Cutting the hole in the firewall will interfere with your fan and hence demister and possibly hinder chances of getting it engineered. Although all that said and done mine is cut and engineered in QLD.

One point about the http://pulsr.net/g13b/ site -

He states an aftermarket ECU is "Needed"- I disagree.

Otherwise, some nice photos of a clean conversion.

mine runs a stock ecu, it's a mk1, you can get heaps of chips to suit the mk2/3 ecu's to suit all sorts of cams/throttle arangements/turbos/superchargers etc etc but to do anything to the mk1's you need a custom ecu setup as the ecu only controls fuel and not spark and no chips are available.
