I'm in the process of fitting a 2nd hand turbo kit to my TD42. The donor engine used an oil cooler with a sandwich fitting under one of the oil filters. This has fittings which were used for the turbo oil feed and the oil cooler lines.
I'm ditching the oil cooler and the sandwich plate for the time being and want to take the turbo oil feed from another location closer to the turbo.
Searching previous posts, most people seem to take the oil feed from a fitting near the passenger engine mount. My question is, is this the same fitting used for the alternator feed - if so, I presume a T fitting is needed?
Or is there another fitting in the vicinity?

Looks like the turbo might need rebuilding theres a fair bit of side play and it kind of binds up if you push the shaft sideways and try to turn it
a bush bearing turbo will always have a bit of movement, it aint fucked til its scrapin the housing coming on boost

thats because there is no oil pressure in the bearing.
i wouldnt be pushing too hard on your turbine...
at the end of the day, they usually give you plenty of notice before destroying themselves.
the only i had that didnt (i went through 5 turbos on my go fast car) launched the exhaust wheel into my muffler, stupid ceramic wheels...
if your really worried, take it to a turbo place, get it checked over, then fit it.

Well, I ended up putting the turbo one as it is/was. Took it for the first test drive tonight - its awesome! I've never had a turboed TD42 before so dont know what to compare it to, but the difference is amazing. Its possibly a little worse under about 1500 rpm but after that - wow! Speeding tickets are going to be a distinct possibility if I'm not careful.
The turbo is very quite so hopefully the play wasnt an issue.

Its a bit complicated because the kit came with a parts vehicle - what I get for the left overs will determine what it owes me. Thats not much help to you....
The engine has 438,000 km on it. Compressions are good and all seems fine.
