Nf pajero chewing up the fuel.
hey all,
i got my p's 5 weeks ago and i taken my Pajero on 3 big trips now,
its chewing up 92L of fuel, and I'm only getting 350kms outer it maybe 400 if I'm lucky.
this is pretty sick, nothing seems to be wrong, I'm going to go buy some injector cleaner, see if that will help but is there anything else that would make my car chew up so much fuel.
I'm going poor paying for fuel lmao. on average this is 24.5L per 100kms!
Thx Wade

Hey m8,
Well, this time highway driving and nuffin else, but normally highway driving with a little bit of 4wdin, yeah i have a 2" lift kit with 33" - 12.5" tires they are the only mods.
I got a service kit today for the injectors see how that works.
Its really bad on fuel i'm thinking there must be another problem somewhere.
I was thinking maybe replaceing the fuel pump and the fuel filters, and if worst comes to worst get all the injectors serviced.
Thx Wade

yeah start with ur filters get carby checked mayb it need tuning or rebuilding and also with the 33's u will be going through fuel u can even keep the 33' just for when u go offroad and have the originals for everyday that will save u or buy a deisel haha.

Before you replace your fuel pump, have it checked. I had one done recently, it cost me $25 for regulated & unregulated pressure check & flow rate. No problems found.
Start with the basics: filters (air & fuel), ignition timing (badly retarded ignition will leave you way down on power & using too much throttle). Have a bit of a search here, I reckon we've discussed ignition timing once or twice.
Then look at testing your fuel pump, replace the plugs (which can be a bitch to get to - once they're out, put new ones in).
Then look at injectors. A proper off-car ultrasonic clean and flow test can be found for $25 per injector, plus the hassle of getting them out and back in again. Last time I priced them, reconditioned injectors were $40 each on an exchange basis, and required a significant deposit.

LOL Mechz....
Wadez there are a number of things that can cause over fueling.. To name a few....
Blocked or faulty fuel regulator- high fuel pressure
Airflow meter
Coolant temp sensor- thinks its always cold
O2 sensor- not mapping
Throttle position sensor
Blocked air filter
Bigger tyres
Dirty injectors
Mate i would take it to your local mechanic and get them to pull the ECU codes out of it and do a fuel pressure / flow test and go from there. Also a good way to check the injectors is to block the return line off at idle and see if the revs pick up. If so then they are dirty.

Thx for the help so far guys,
I have a brand new air filter in there and brand new spark plugs, so that
cancels out that. the fuel pump appears to be running fine i checked it out, so that is that one out of the way. my kick down cable is disconnected and i am waiting on a new one so to answer that i don't have a heavy foot without that:P,
Umm my sump has a slow leak so next week I'm pulling my whole engine out and replacing a lot of stuff all main gaskets and stuff but not the head ones, but in the progress i am going to take out the injectors and clean them my self and i am also replacing the fuel filters. so there won't be any leaks in my motor at all when I'm done.
hope fully after i replace a lot of this, and clean out the injectors i will get a better running motor and more fuel officiant. but as it is my motor runs like a dream now.
Thx guys Wade
