How do I turbo EFI PATROL

Post by BigrigCQ »

Im looking at puting a turbo on my 4.2 EFI GQ Patrol, and i was just wondering what I would have to do to run reliably and what sort of boost iI can run on standard compression.

Im in the process of making a high mount manifold, and imgoing to run a T04E External wastegate turbo and a nissan 180sx intercooler with 2.25'' alloy mandrel bends.

Any help would be much appreciated

25 PSI will give you a fair kick in the guts, youll need injectors aftermarket ecu, fuel pumps, clutch, pressure plate, prolly ignitors..... it can go on

for a basic sort of setup search for mulisha in members or PM frigga40 as both have done the conversion. the to4e should be big enough for anything you plan to do for the moment. run around 12 pounds for safety on petrol but make sure you get a good tune. actually, does anyone know how much the standard injectors can take?
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

as others said, search would help

heres a very informative thread about a td45 but all information is relevant to the tb42, i plan to do the conversion sometime.

basically you can make your own turbo manifold, or buy a prebuilt one for a TD42 patrol which bolts straight onto the TB42.

and dont forget to move the oil breather return from the intake to before the turbo.

Thanks for replying everyone !

I know both of your trucks from the CQ offroad challenge from last year.

Im still gathering bits and pieces for the conversion and now looks like I have to add some more things to my list, but if u dont mind me asking what turbo are going to run at the Outback.

And have u rebuilt your motor to handle this power upgrade !

big single and big external gate, after outback will be changing to motec so can run anti lag and other cool things, me new turbo is a bit of a secret till it gets going its something not many people use cause they so expensive but makes garrets look cheap.

Lovely, will it be a high mount setup.

I have a 38mm External Waste gate for the T04E
Do you reckon that will be sufficient for this setup.

Do you have any photos of the new turbo manifold.

Im looking at running the new WOLF V500 computer
would be able tune this around here.

Thanks
