What does off its head mean?
A stroker rover motor will chew 6.5k pretty quick and the benifits dollar for dollar probably make a injected GM motor very appealing.Although then u have conversion kit costs.

I dont know a lot about the Rover strokers other than its exspensive to do,Crankshaft Rebuilders in Blackburn make up the kits maybe give them a buzz and see what they have to say.

I have a vitesse (mob in east melbourne) stroker in my 88 rangie. It was done in 88 aswel. I rebuilt the top end a couple of months ago, but really it didn't need it, there was just a funny sound i wanted to get rid of but couldn't anyway. So thats a testament to it's reliability, 20 years and still going stong. powerwise if i put my foot down itll propb just keep up with dads 100 cruiser, but it's not to good towing although that might be the auto. Oh sorry its a 4.2 with the old motec system. Dunno if I could recomend vittesse as i only had them tune the car, and they weren't to good to deal with. I also think their prices are pretty steep, but the the engine has pulled 20 years and shows no sign of slowing.

Speak to Crankshaft Rebuilders they are building a 3.5l to 5l stroker for a friend of mine at the moment.
Its going into a Rangie that will be used in a rally later this year from Ayres Rock to Gold Coast.

Hey Adam, I recently pulled a 4.2 stroker out of an old 82 rangie. It runs a stroker crank and pistons with the original rods. I pulled it to pieces and sent those bits along with a newer 3.9 block to an engine builder and got it built up for $1000. Add that to a set of reco-ed heads and performance cam and the stroker has only cost me about $1700 so far. Am gonna replace the rocker gear and other little bits aswell so I should get it in my 88 RR completed for a bit over $2k. Pretty cheap!
